Reporting breastfeeding photos to facebook

Today is the second time since my daughter Demi was born almost 3 months ago that someone has reported a photograph of me breastfeeding my daughter as "nudity" to Facebook. I am happy to say that Facebook however, did not agree with this person, and my photos remain. This honestly just makes my blood boil. Whoever this person is, I left them a message on my facebook page and it went like this:

"If you think a photo of a woman nourishing and feeding her baby is nudity or you find it inappropriate, then PLEASE DE-FRIEND ME. I will continue to post these photos because I find breastfeeding to be one the most incredible things I've ever done in my life. I am what keeps my infant alive and healthy. Me alone. My baby and I stare into each others eyes during these special times. There is nothing better than watching her feed and hearing her sweet sounds of pure happiness and comfort. She takes breaks from feeding to smile and coo up at me. She feels so loved and so safe. I believe these times should be shared and photographed, just like photos of your kids sitting with santa, eating their lunch, hugging their parent, or playing a sport (whatever it may be). Breastfeeding should be normalized. Its very frustrating that there is even a discussion about women breastfeeding covered or not covered, being nudity or not. Its even more frustrating that someone who is "friends" with me on Facebook looks at the intimate photos of my life and my family, and reports it. Whoever you may be, you are absolutely not a friend to me, nor would I ever want someone who found this to be nudity, to be a friend to me or my baby or my family. So please do us both a favor and DE-FRIEND me, because my breastfeeding photos will absolutely continue to flow in, along with other photographs of beautiful and loving moments with my sweet babygirl."

Ugh.

This has also happened to MANY women across Facebook. For example, Maria Corry, a mom whose modest breastfeeding photo was reported more than 5 times, decided to post a new photo of herself breastfeeding but this one had a photograph of a victorias secret models cleavage covering her child and breast. "So since my breastfeeding photo which showed NOTHING got reported more than FIVE times, I'm posting this. I bet this won't be reported, because you can see this picture in every mall you step into, huge and blown up outside the store. This is not frowned upon, or ever reported, as it is seen everywhere. But a women nurturing and feeding their baby is looked down on. That is completely absurd! Moms, post your breast selfies below. Nurse in public. People who think breastfeeding is nasty, or looked at sexually is a pedophile for even thinking of it in that way! Breastfeeding is natural, it's what our breasts were meant for! In other countries breastfeeding is praised, and welcomed everywhere! In America, people have so much negative things to say about it! I'm done with this stupid nonsense. I can't believe how much backlash my photo got, but more importantly I got tons of support and I thank you all. And again, BREAST IS BEST! **EDIT: When I said pedophile, I was just hurt and angered someone was reporting my picture. I think anyone who sees breastfeeding as a sexual act, does have something wrong in their head though. And yes, "fed is best" but it has been proven breastmilk is best for babies :) But yes as long as a baby is fed all is well! It honestly baffles me that there is such an uproar when a mom breastfeeds in public or posts a photo. This is how humanity has survived. This is whats healthiest for our babes. Every single time I see a mom nursing in public, I smile, and want to run over to give her a high-five. Us breastfeeding mamas should feel safe and comfortable and supported to nurse our kids whenever and wherever we'd like. So I am sending a high-five through this blog. Keep it going, keep on posting, keep on nourishing those kids!
